It came down to the wire, but "NCIS: Hawaiʻi" ultimately didn't make the cut for next season at CBS. The news comes days before the network is set to announce its fall schedule on May 2 and before the Season 3 finale is scheduled to air on May 6. According to sources, the episode was not meant to be a series finale and includes a tease for what was to come but fans won't be left reeling by a major cliffhanger.

The NCIS: Hawai’i team is getting a major plus-up. LL Cool J — fresh off wrapping his 14-year run as NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Sam Hanna, who surprisingly resurfaced on CBS 24 hours later to make a bacon-saving cameo during NCIS: Hawa’i’i‘s Season 2 finale — is joining the island-set spinoff for Season 3, as a recurring guest star.

CBS announced that it has renewed nine additional series for the 2023-2024 season. The renewed CBS Original series are #1 broadcast series/drama NCIS, #1 news program 60 MINUTES, CSI: VEGAS, NCIS: HAWAI'I, SURVIVOR, THE AMAZING RACE, TOUGH AS NAILS, LINGO and the true crime docuseries 48 HOURS, Saturday's #1 non-sports primetime series for 17 consecutive seasons.

“NCIS,” a longtime cornerstone of the CBS primetime schedule, will now be back for a 20th season. “NCIS: Los Angeles” will return for a 14th season, while “NCIS: Hawai’i” will be back for a second season.

CBS has given full-season orders to its top freshman dramas NCIS: Hawai'i and FBI: International for the 2021-2022 broadcast season.
