Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Joe Perry attended Vermont Academy, a boarding school in Saxtons River, Vermont. where his dream of becoming a marine biologist turned to dreaming about being in a rock band. In the 1960s he formed a band with Tom Hamilton called The Jam Band. which went on to include Steven Tyler, Brad Whitford, and Joey Kramer, eventually becoming Aerosmith.
