Pretty Diana Canova portrayed Corinne Tate in the comedy hit "Soap." The daughter of comedienne Judy Canova and the late Filiberto Rivero, she says she always wanted to be an actress. "I've never wanted to do anything else," she explains. "Being around my mother and growing up in Hollywood, what else is there?" Diana Canova sings, plays the piano, dances, and writes her own songs. But that's not what she's famous for. Instead, the tall brown-haired beauty is fast becoming America's favorite girlfriend in her role as Corinne Tate in ABC's new hit comedy series, Soap.
Diana loves acting and hopes to continue in TV series, as well as make theatrical feature films; however, she is also a talented musical performer looking forward to doing musical comedy on the stage during her production hiatus from TV series.
Diana, the daughter of musical comedienne Judy Canova, may have come by her talent naturally. But it took years of hard work for her to polish that talent and upgrade it to a professional level.
With the continual encouragement of her parents, Diana began playing the piano at age four, was performing in school plays at age 11, started taking voice lessons at 18, and has been teaching voice for the past few years. "I've been writing music and lyrics since I was a teenager, and I'm about ready to put together a record album of my own songs," she said.
Although Diana studied opera for a while, she settled for musical comedy. She worked continuously in school productions at Los Angeles City College. At LACC she also studied dialects, and now she is proficient enough in nearly a dozen of them that she does tutoring.
Knowing that being a part of a hit series like "Soap" eventually leads to other opportunities, Diana commented: "I hope to have a long career, so I don't feel that everything has to happen for me right away."
