Misha Collins was born Dmitri Tippens Krushnic on August 20, 1974 in Boston, Massachusetts. He is an American actor most famous for his role as the rebellious angel Castiel on the CW television series "Supernatural".
Collins, his stage name, is his great-grandmother's maiden name. Before going into acting, he has previously worked as an intern for four months in the Office of Presidential Personnel at the White House during Clinton's administration. He studied social theory at the University of Chicago.
Aside from acting, Misha Collins is also a published poet having contributed two of his poems (Baby Pants and Old Bones) to the 2008 edition of the Columbia Poetry Review #21. In 2011, he founded GISHWHES (Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen), which would then go on to break the world record for most pledges to perform a random act of kindness. Entrance fees for this international competition go towards Random Acts of Kindness, a non-profit organization he has co-founded.
Collins has a wife, Victoria Vantoch, and two children, West Anaximander and Maison Marie.
