In the 2023 season, Reid led the Chiefs to an 11–6 record and another AFC West title, Reid earned a spot in his fifth Super Bowl in Super Bowl LVIII following victories over the Miami Dolphins in the Wild Card Round, the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round, and the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship. In the Super Bowl, the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25–22 in only the second overtime game in Super Bowl history. Reid became a Super Bowl champion for the third time as head coach and the Chiefs became the first team to repeat since the New England Patriots did it in 2003 and 2004.
