Courtney grew up in rural Ontario. She is a graduate of St. Clair College's Musical Theatre Performance Program. Upon graduating, she had the pleasure of working as a dancer/singer at Diamond Tooth Gerties Casino in Dawson City. After Dawson, Courtney settled in Toronto, where she fell in love with film and TV acting and changed of her career path. She began training with Matthew Harrison of The Actor's Foundry in BC as well as Sophie Anne Rooney in Toronto.
