Matthias Schweighöfer

Born in Anklam, East Germany, Matthias Schweighöfer was eight years old when the Berlin Wall came down and he discovered Western cinema. He studied acting for a year at the renowned acting school Ernst Busch Academy in Berlin. He first appeared in a 1994 episode of Ärzte, his film debut was in the 1997 feature Changing Skins. Fluent in German and English, with a basic knowledge of French, the international release of his first English speaking role came in the 2008 film Valkyrie, which brought him widespread recognition.
