The Aurora Borealis hovers over the small town of Iglaak, Alaska, on Christmas Eve. Police sergeant Yuka Mongoyak is driving her drunken brother Jack into town. He asks her to turn off the Christmas music playing on the radio, and she says that Captain Lane Pendleton has ordered that the police radios play Christmas music on Christmas Eve.
