Vera Evans, Ike's beautiful second wife, redefines her place in Ike's life. In the crisis of Ike's imprisonment, Vera stepped in and proved to her world, her family and, most importantly, to herself that she is a smart, capable, modern woman. Now she must navigate a jealous older stepson, Stevie Evans, the heir apparent, as well as the limited expectations for a woman in 1959. Vera, momentarily blocked in the hotel business by Ike and Stevie, leaps at the chance to reclaim her former dancing glory onstage at the Miramar Playa. As she chases one dream, Vera's safe and secure marriage is shaken. Vera discovers that Ike has invited former sister-in-law Meg Bannock to play a larger role in their lives. Vera unravels the truth of Ike's business dealings and discovers to what lengths he'll go to protect the Miramar Playa.
