Rhoda Morgenstern

Rhoda Morgenstern is of a Jewish heritage from New York City. New York City is often a cold place, so she decided to move to Minneapolis where it is even colder. She has a love for food, fashion, but claims to suffer from a "17 years long puberty". She works in a very large department store and occasionally sells plants and drives cabs with fellow department store employee Georgette. She lived in a tiny loft in the same apartment house as Mary, but Rhoda didn't along well with the landlady Phyllis. The first time Mary and Rhoda met was when they were fighting for the same studio apartment.

Rhoda was the inspiration for Bridget Loves Bernie as well as her very own show, Rhoda. Rhoda left Mary Tyler Moore during the 4th season. After both their shows ended, they moved to Europe. Eventually they both returned with Rhoda as a photographer and Mary got a job for a second time at the same place: American Broadcasting Company, but drifted apart and hadn't seen each other in years. When they reunited, they discovered that the names of their daughters are a variant of each other's names: Mary named her daughter "Rose" and Rhoda named her daughter "Meredith". (Mary and Rhoda)
