Mei is one of two main characters in the Say "I Love You" anime and manga. She starts the series friendless and quiet, believing that people are only friends with you until you aren't needed anymore. This is due to the fact that she was a scapegoat in elementary school. When she accidentally kicks the most popular guy in her school and they start dating, she starts to open up and learn to trust others.
