Why is there a completely new thread for Doctor Who, posted as season 1, while it is actually season 14?

BBC is calling it season 1, we copy them.
Some background info on it:
The series is referred to in marketing and promotional material as "Season One" following the production changes and the acquisition of Doctor Who's international broadcasting rights by Disney+.[1]
@ FHFbVB1Mkd3 , quite edifying, thanks
Look ... this has happened multiple times for many shows. Just because a corporation couldn't find it's @$$ with both hands and a map doesn't mean You copy them. There is a proper way to do things and it's almost always going to be the EXACT OPPOSITE of what a corporation decides. It was bad enough that Doctor Who was split off in 2005 as it was a CONTINUATION of the original series, but don't go adding insult to injury with this nonsense. Merge it into the main thread, it's what people are going to do anyways. The more this site does silly things like this, the more unusable it becomes. It's already on thin ice and TheTVDB.com is RIGHT THERE and does things properly.

If you would like to discuss a change to the policies we have in place, please put forward a constructive suggestion for a change to those policies. For now I would suggest this thread be closed as the original post has been answered. @david , @JuanArango or @gazza911
As no-one directly mentioned it, our Shows Data Policy's continuation/reboots section covers when it should be a new show.
In this case, it's not part of the existing show entry as the following is false:
"The new network/web channel does not refer to the pilot as season 1"
As Tom has said, if you want to come up with a proposed policy change, and can justify it, then that's the next step if you disagree.
