'W5' sets season premiere, October 6 on CTV

W5 Canada’s most-watched and North America’s longest-running investigative series, launches its 58th season with a move to a new day and timeslot. Beginning Oct. 6, episodes air weekly on Fridays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, CTV.ca, and the CTV app. W5’s all-new season of award-winning journalism is led by Investigative Correspondent and Managing Editor Avery Haines. The new season premieres with “Prisoner 14000”, highlighting a new breakthrough in an ongoing W5 investigation about a Canadian grandmother who was imprisoned in Hong Kong for smuggling cocaine into the country. The W5 team travels to Asia to conduct the suspect’s first-ever interview and reveals a surprising twist that catches Haines and the entire W5 team off guard. This season, W5 digs deeper into hard-hitting investigations and an array of compelling stories, including:

  • New DNA evidence leads to an undiscovered killer, 40 years after a Canadian mother was murdered in California
  • A cross-country investigation exposes Canadian companies who ignore business complaints and sometimes flout the law
  • Exploring the curious history of a small-town bank robber who died in a homemade bomb explosion, and who remains unidentified to this day
  • A profile of Oji-Cree singer-songwriter Aysanabee, who shares how his late grandfather inspired his music
