I doubt the integrity of the former officer who investigated the first case. I think it is improper for the former officers girlfriend to reinvestigate a new case, and talk with him about the new case. Also, those who were close to David prior to the incident I have suspicions about their motives.
Seeds of doubt have been well planted.
