Elizabeth "Bess" Adams McCord, Ph.D. is the United States Secretary of State. She was appointed to the position by PresidentConrad Dalton after the death of her predecessor, Vincent Marsh. She was previously a CIA analyst and Political Science Professor at the University of Virginia. She left the CIA due to her involvement in the torture of an Iraqi activist and she regrets it even though she believed it was for the right reasons.
