NBC held a not-unexpected bloodbath last week, cancelling five shows on Friday. On the hit list were The Irrational, Found, Lopez vs Lopez, Night Court, and Suits LA. The cancellation of The Irrational and Found could be good news for fans of Brilliant Minds and possibly The Hunting Party, as it could mean the network is willing to give the two freshman shows a second chance to find an audience next season. The network also announced renewals for Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU last week.
On the ratings front, Yes, Chef managed to hold its premiere audience, though the numbers remain low. Suits LA picked up a few tens of thousands of viewers, but as mentioned, it was too little, too late.
LATE UPDATE: As expected, with the cancellation of The Irrational and Found, Brilliant Minds and The Hunting Party were renewed. Grosse Point Garden Society was quietly cancelled with no mention of the series during the network's upfront presentation.

On the unscripted side, The Masked Singer, Extracted, and The Floor were also renewed. On the animation front, Universal Basic Guys was renewed for season two last fall. The network has now renewed it for a season three as well. Krapopolis was renewed through the 2028-29 season, joining The Simpsons and Family Guy in the network's long-term animation plans. And finally, Grimsburg received word of a season three renewal. Rescue HI-Surf, however, was cancelled after one season.

Only one more week for the 2024-25 season. How did your favorite shows fare this season? Will your favorites be back again in the fall?
Written by LadyShelley on May 13, 2025
Yeah, after watching its season finale I figured that would be the end too. Lol
I was frankly shocked. I think by the end of its season, Going Dutch had sub one million viewers. The network just seems to like Denis Leary, I suppose. I was surprised Night Court was cancelled. NBC has not had very good luck with its half-hour comedies for close to ten years. Night Court was one of the few to do consistently well, but they had to make room for NBA basketball. (more on that once I have ABC's fall schedule and can post the two articles I have on this year's upfronts)
I was rather surprised that Going Dutch got renewed. It'll be interesting to see what season 2 will bring. And I was rather bummed that The Irrational and Night Court got cancelled, especially with how Night Court ended. And I wonder if Good Cop/Bad Cop and Sherlock & Daughter will get renewed.
