Ratings Roundup for the Week of March 24, 2024

NOTE: Preliminary ratings are not posting online at the moment. This is why the Friday and Saturday numbers have been missing the past few weeks. I'll have to see what happens through the rest of this season. If this is the new trend moving forward, Ratings Roundup articles next season may be delayed to Tuesday to ensure the full schedule is listed.

ABC wrapped The Bachelor last week. The reality show ended, up seven hundred thousand viewers from the previous week. 9-1-1 picked up another hundred thousand viewers. Network execs are surely happy with their gamble to take the series off FOX's hands, and the show should be easily renewed. Unfortunately for the rest of the Thursday night lineup, viewers aren't sticking around. Grey's Anatomy was down another three hundred thousand viewers, while Station 19 lost another two hundred thousand viewers. Grey's is still the second-highest-rated drama, so it's in no real danger of cancellation this season, but it's also twenty years old, which means it's expensive to produce. How many more years will it be around? The Rookie returned after a few weeks off, down two hundred thousand viewers. With Station 19 and The Good Doctor already cancelled, chances are, it will get another renewed for next season. Will Trent was up almost half a million viewers since its last new episode and will be easily renewed.

CBS feasted on more college basketball last week, which was good as most of its schedule was down in the ratings last week. Of its remaining shows, Tracker lost ground, shedding three hundred thousand viewers. NCIS returned after a few weeks off, down eight hundred thousand viewers. It's in no danger, however. NCIS: Hawai'i was also down but will likely be renewed. The FBI shows were all down last week, but all three should be renewed.

NBC wrapped Night Court and Extended Family last week. Both shows ended even with the previous week. Night Court will be easily renewed. Extended Family did much better in its freshman series than any of the comedies on the network last season and should also receive a renewal notice in the coming weeks. Chicago Fire was down a little less than one hundred thousand viewers. Chicago Med was down three hundred thousand viewers. Chicago PD was basically even.

FOX continued to see its Sunday animation block limp along. The Simpsons returned after a month off, down one hundred thousand viewers. The Great North and Grimsburg picked up a few tens of thousands of viewers, while Krapopolis was even. Family Guy stopped the Wednesday night skid and was even with the previous week. Alert: Missing Persons Unit lost more viewers last week that it couldn't really afford. It's currently the lowest-rated of the few scripted dramas on the network, and its chances for renewal fade a little more each week. The Cleaning Lady lost three hundred thousand viewers, but it's still inching out Alert. Renewals for both shows may come down whether or not the network plans to continue with scripted content. Competition shows and sports fill more of the schedule each season.
