Pyotr Nikitich Chernyaev is a powerful and controversial figure. He oversees a large fishing enterprise. In life and at work, Chernyaev is an absolute dictator. Perhaps this is why Chernyaev's two marriages were unsuccessful. He divorced his wives, but raised his sons, Andrei and Sasha. Andrei decided to become an artist, and Sasha decided to help his father in business.
The measured life of the three men changes with the arrival of Chernyaev Sr.'s beloved Marina. The businessman unexpectedly marries the woman who has endured much hardship. Marina, however, marries him not out of love, but rather out of desperation. And she doesn't even hide this from her new husband. Initially hostile to his young stepmother, Chernyaev's youngest son, Sasha, suddenly realizes that he is in love with Marina...
