David Hansen was a big-shot lawyer who grew tired of his Los Angeles law firm; he left to start a non-profit firm called Neighborhood Legal Services based in Century City, California. His associates were Deborah Sullivan and Gabriel Kay; Roberto worked as a clerk and while going to law school. After 13 episodes, the show's format was changed, as Hansen et al. went to work at the firm Hansen left in the first place. Gerald S. O'Loughlln (Devlin Michael MacNeil) and Robert Foxworth (David Hansen) starred as a senior partner in a large law firm and his young associate, involved in a wide variety of true-to-life, topical and sometimes controversial cases.
