This season was always gonna be a transition season and I was prepared after season 3 for that.I think the showrunner(s) didn't expected to get a 2 season renewal back then so they chose to make s4 slower with tiny answer here and there and more character driven.
For me personally, I enjoyed this more than season 3, season 3 was for me the weakest. The only bad episode this year was s04e09, strange pacing, almost no soundtrack, somewhat boring stuff. Maybe this season only needed 8 episodes to tell it's story.

I liked this finale, the prequel for season 5. It sets up a whole new board.
A lot of casualties. I never hated
Fatima , i was okay with her all by alland that sacrifice/transformation/end of her character ? worked for me. I always foundMarielle interesting butthey never really did stuff with her except in season 2 , shamethey killed a lesbian tho' .Elgin really deserved it , good riddance. Also... didPatty die, was it a blink and you miss it? I should check back.I loved the
red lightning scene and the sun disappearing . It really wasn't a slow finale, that's good. The whole debacle between
the man in yellow and the boy in white reminds me of man in black vs. jacob in LOST , and yes the showrunner of this show is fromLOST , but in this series it works better. They have an endgame in mind since the start and it's also very lightly based on a book, so yeah.Really enjoyed it. But again, I love slow mystery box series.

My wishes for the final season are:
- Tabitha should act better, it was like she was asleep this season except in the finale... come on girl, show me what you can do, she will survive
- Boyd being Boyd, I like this actor and I like this character existential crisis, probably will die
- Jade, fucking love him...but I'm guessing he will sacrifice himself for Tabitha in the end
- I like thatDonna survived this season , but I still thinkshe is gonna die protecting Ethan
- Viktor will be a giant puzzle piece or even the key to all of this, i think he will stay and be a protector of some kind, a guide
- Kenny will finally/hopefully get a bigger role and I think he will have a lot of scenes with Kristi... don't know if he will survive... but I think he will
- Kristi will survive,they can't kill two lesbians...they just can't
- Ellis, this I don't know...obviously grief but what than... orhe gets crazy, Boyd will help him or transformed fatima will also transform him or I dunno...
- Julie, will get a haircut and she will finally believe in everything and becomes one of the heroes and will survive
- Ethan, will survive, his dad will appear to him a couple of times and give hints/keys whatever
- Sara will do something heroic and I think she will survive and will live with her burdens and will except it
- Bakta will die
- Randall, the Sawyer of this show (kinda), is a giant toss-up... I can see him die or survive together with Julie
-Henry, also a toss-up... he will stay with Viktor in that realm/place or die protecting him
- Acosta, will survive, her whole arc is to become a good confident leader
- The Man in Yellow, please die
- The Boy in White: he will go on into the spirit world or somethingThe end.
I didn't know anything about showrunner expectations around renewal. The show for me was good up till S3. I don't recall feeling disappointed with S3 like I have this season.
The From universe is small, so it needed more things happening. When Tabitha went back to the normal world and brought back Henry that made it more interesting.
I haven't engaged much with social media for this show because it was good enough without it. This season I went on Reddit a couple of times just to see if others thought it was dragging. I'm not alone in this opinion it seems. After the finale I visited again and found a post which listed all the storylines in this season which have been left dangling and didn't really go anywhere. It was quite long and a few things I had forgotten about all ready. I think the ones they seem to be building, like Henry vs Victor, are lacklustre.
Fatima turning into a monster I'm not sure I get what has caused it. The golem gave her remote viewing powers and she somehow saved Kenny when he was on top of the bus through sheer force of will. She developed the varicose veins on her tummy after this, so maybe something latent in her from the pregnancy was triggered and the drink Clara gave her seems to have triggered the monster thing. IDK if she's fully turned though.
Patty's alive. Marielle I didn't really care for. She didn't add anything of note and her relationship with Kristi was boring compared to the budding romance with Kenny her arrival scuppered.
Sophia/MiY is just...well....annoying. Elgin should've shown the photo of Sophia to Boyd or Donna. After what he's been through it wasn't smart to confront her with it.
I think there will be a talisman or two that's been missed by Sophia. They will be found and everyone can hole up somewhere at night. We can't have everyone die in the first episode next season.

Season 5 will be the Final, but its possible they might get out / Succeed... but ya... it could also be a Reset as well
