Episode Discussion

Carol has been one of my favorite characters since Hershel's farm and this was a great episode to showcase her many charms(?). Ha ha! The conversation between King Ezekiel and Carol was excellent and filled with a lot of truths that young people should think about. Just as your pets are more secure if they have a leader to follow, so are most humans even if our actual leaders seem more removed from us these days. The dangers that come from those who want to lead is that they usually are willing to lead for all the wrong reasons. Not because they care about their "subjects," but because they are seeking power, money or fame. It's hard to convince an actual good and benevolent leader to step forward and lead, but usually very worth the effort.

I much preferred this episode over the season opener which I felt went way too far. I think part of my problem with it is that we come to expect that the monsters can and will do terrible and violent things, but enduring that kind of cruel violence by one human on another, especially in front of his pregnant wife - too much! Then it starts feeling like real life instead of the supernatural fantasies that I enjoy.

King Ezekiel is a fun and welcome character, at least so far. He and Shiva were what I needed after E01. How can you not be enchanted by Shiva, a gorgeous feline named after the Hindu god - Supreme Destroyer of Evil, Lord of Divine Energy - Wahoo!

Not each episode can be as dramatic as the season opener, it would get old fast then :)

Terrible episode. I love how these shows make all the effort to blow you away in the season premiere and afterwards try to make you sleep for the rest of the season until the finale.
