U-boat Captain Ulrich Wrangel and his men are caught in battle with a US Frigate. Meanwhile, in occupied France, young Captain Klaus Hoffmann worries that he won't be able to live up to his famous father's reputation.

Aboard U-612, the men are adjusting to their new lives. Meanwhile in La Rochelle, Simone struggles to piece together what happened the previous evening.

As U-612 completes the first part of their mission, the crew is reeling from a tragic death. Meanwhile on land, Gluck organises a parade for the return of Captain Becker and his men.

Following the explosion at La Rochelle, the Mayor is ordered to make some harsh decisions under the watchful eye of Gluck and Forster.

The crew welcomes the departure of Greenwood, but their new guest comes as a surprise. Meanwhile, Carla and Simone's relationship continues to develop.

Trapped below the angry, ominous rumble of a destroyer, the outlook is bleak for the crew of U-612. The inexperienced but eager young men wanted a battle, but they may have taken on more than they bargained for.

Spring 1943: L.I. Ehrenberg prepares submarines for use in Kiel. Minors are recruited as crews. Wilhelm Hoffmann attends a reception at the request of his son-in-law.

As Forster investigates the Dorfmann murder in Lisbon, the U-949's new sailors get into a fight in Kiel and Swinburne attends his son's funeral. 

The U-949 is endangered by Commander Buchner's orders as Forster finds a lead in a casino and makes the acquaintance of the German Bettina Gruber.

Swinburne sets sail with a technologically upgraded ship, Ehrenberg makes a difficult decision and Forster tries to get a traitor out of the country. 

After finding out the truth about his son, Wilhelm Hoffmann fights with Hannie. Ehrenberg has to say goodbye to Greta and Forster's plan goes haywire. 

Swinburne's destroyer sinks two U-boats before going after U-949. Forster observes a secret meeting between Consul Gruber and the American Gardiner.

U-949 meets a Japanese boat to take on heavy cargo - gold. Wilhelm Hoffmann is invited to Lisbon and Forster reveals all to Klaus Hoffmann.

After a bomb explodes, Forster and Klaus Hoffmann are forced to hide. Wilhelm Hoffmann arrives in Lisbon, as U-949 heads towards her new destination.

As Klaus Hoffmann pursues German agent Weiss, U-949 comes under heavy fire from Swinburne's destroyers, and Commander Buchner tries a risky manoeuvre.

As the U-949 reaches Portugal, Ehrenberg returns to Kiel, and Klaus Hoffmann and Forster turn to blackmail.

August 1943: Franz Buchner is in action with the U-949. An informer on board divides his crew. The Hoffmann family gathers in Berlin to attend the premiere of a film about Klaus.

Robert Ehrenberg supports the resistance within the Navy and gives Klaus Hoffmann a clue. Bobby Schulz is on his trail. U-949 comes under fire in the Strait of Gibraltar.

Commander Buchner reaches the coast of Naples. Klaus Hoffmann is also on his way there. His sister Hannie meets twelve-year-old Hertha.

Klaus Hoffmann commands the ailing U-330 on a secret dive, but not all the men trust him. Hannie wants to take Hertha in. Staff officer Heinrich Gluck has to make a decision.

After a risky maneuver, the U-330 appears next to a US Navy ship. SS man Koch uncovers the identity of the spy "Fidelio". Hannie gets on the trail of the Lebensborn organization.

Schulz kills with his own hand for the second time. Klaus Hoffmann has to realize that the Allied invasion is already underway. In Naples, a man with a murder mission is waiting.
