Unfortunately, it seems to me, that usually there's some level of unknown and mystery you want to know and understand, so this desire to unravel hidden information infuses the urge to keep watching episode by episode. Twin Peaks' level of unknown and mystery is off the charts, so you naturally assume you can't possibly comprehend everything, therefore, truth-seeking drops along with its function to fuel the anticipation of the next episode.
